Week 1 Wrap

04.02.22

As the curtain closes on our first week at Compass, we are filled with joy, optimism and excitement for the days, weeks and months ahead as our community continues to come to life.

It was an absolute thrill to welcome young people to Compass for the very first time. And, judging by the pictures, we think they had a blast too!

Week 1 at Compass was labelled as “GTKU” (Getting to Know You). Students engaged in a variety of activities across five-days, highlighted by painting a mural and culminating in the “Compass Carnival”.

Kicking off with breakfast every morning, the inaugural cohort were able to get to know one another in a relaxed environment, playing board games and cards, as well as showing off their creativity through pot painting and tie dyeing.

Young people worked in collaboration with artist Sarah Keane throughout the week to plan, design and create a breathtaking mural that will serve as a statement piece for Compass and the broader community. (Don't forget to pop by 8 Mitchell Street Davoren Park over the coming weeks to see the final product!)

Friday served as a celebration day for everyone on site, with Compass Champion Fr Philip Marshall and the BADGE Construction crew joining staff and students for a BBQ before moving into a full-on day of fun inside the learning hub. Buck Hunter, Daytona, air hockey, mega jenga, slushy machines… you name it, we had it!

We also welcomed little people into our childminding facility for the first time – a safe place for parents to leave their little one’s while they pursue their education.

We had an absolute blast… BRING ON WEEK 2!
